Precinct Trigeneration and District Energy
Trigeneration is the simultaneous production of electricity, heating and cooling using gas fired generation, heat recovery and absorption chillers. It is commonly 2-3 times more efficient than coal fired energy production.
The provision of cogeneration and trigeneration in commercial buildings has become popular for tenants and building owners and developers wishing to reduce the carbon emissions and improve their buildings NABERS or green star rating. Precinct Trigeneration sees a central generator of electricity, heating and cooling supply these services to several buildings via a thermal pipe network. District Energy sees several suppliers into an independently owned thermal network, often making the most of waste heat from sources in addition to electricity generation, like industrial processes and municipal waste facilities.
